Precision Acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 Review

2020 Acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2020 Precision Acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon is a really solid Napa Cab available at Costco for just over $15.

But be quick! Napa Valley (specifically Rutherford) Cabernet Sauvignon is rarely available at these prices and don't expect bottles to stick around. Fill your basket, cart, boots, or whatever you have at hand!

So how does it drink?

Coming from Precision Wine in Rutherford, the 2020 Acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon is really bold and big on rich flavors.

2020 Acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon

At first approach, it has prominent aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry. On the second pass, notes of vanilla and cedar come alive. There's an earthy quality here too, that I just can't put my finger on. But, don't worry, it's pleasant!

Flavor-wise, there are no surprises and most of the pleasing aromas show up in a well-balanced manner. The dark fruits are the main event and big flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and raspberry are complemented by more subtle flavors of toasted oak, pepper, and chocolate.

The earthiness from the nose that I couldn't quite identify turns up again in the form of a slight smokiness. A quality that would, I'm sure, make it an excellent pairing for barbecued red meat.

It's not overly tannic or acidic and sits in the middle ground for both. These characteristics are pretty well balanced and lead to a medium finish.

When it comes to food pairings, the Acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 would suit a variety of bold hearty dishes. As I mentioned earlier, the slightly smokey quality of this Cab would lend itself to barbecue food. Grilled steak in particular would be a sure-fire hit. Roast lamb, braised short-ribs, and bold cheeses like blue cheese or aged cheddar would work really well here too.

In terms of value for money, Rutherford, Napa Valley is expensive real estate in the wine world. Cabernet Sauvignon from this neck of the woods tends to fetch a pretty penny!

So, if you are one of the lucky people that manage to catch this at Costco prices of ~$15 then you are getting a great deal! Expect to pay about double this for Cabs from Rutherford at your local wine store.

In conclusion, I'd definitely recommend this wine at Costco prices of around $15. It really is good value for money and an opportunity to sample a Cabernet Sauvignon from world renowned vineyards.

However, you'll probably see this for $30-$35 outside of Costco. At this price point, there are better representations of Rutherford Cab.
